Modern Craft

Lack of knowledge has linked Wicca directly to old-school witchcraft and Hollywood has painted witches as gruesome. Our film shows nothing but the truth behind the Wicca religion and their peaceful methods. Through our expert interviews of a long-time Wiccan, a beginner Wiccan, as well as a researcher of Wicca, our film shares their experiences and informs our audiences of how the religion works.

Director Statement:
Hello, my name is Jessica and I am the director of Modern Craft. This is a documentary that focuses on Queen Lady Passion of Coven Oldenwilde, Alysha who is a Christian studying Wicca, and Danny who has been a Wiccan for about a year and a half.

So many people are misinformed about Wicca and this film goes against the stereotypes that have been painted over time, showing the true nature of the religion and how peaceful it is.

Director Statement:
METANOIA, METANOIA was originally written without any esoteric research or themes. My mission was simply to make an Italian style fantasy thriller, in the style of Dario Argento’s Inferno. After doing a bit of esoteric research, I discovered Gnosticism. I found that the myths and the themes of the Gnostics fit in eerily perfectly with my film. It truly was divine inspiration. The film was delayed, and I embarked on a 4-month deep research journey. The plot was relatively the same as the first script, but now with more meat and soul. It excited, frightened, and moved me to see how perfectly it fit-almost as if the spirits were calling upon me to make this film. Although the film remains esoteric and the riddles and mysteries are not concretely explained, all Gnostic figures and themes are accurately depicted in the film. The antiques in the film are all certified true Gnostic antiques, some of them 1700 years old. It was a joy to become forever inspired by Gnosticism and I truly believe the spirits touched this film. I hope the magic is tangible to you, the viewer. Please enjoy the dream that is METANOIA, METANOIA and perhaps you can figure out the mystery.

Stella Erratica

Alone on a desolate planet. Or is he?

This experimental lo-fi sci-fi, shot on super 8 film, charts a voyage through space to another world. Although the monsters may lie much closer to home…
Props from the film were also used by David Bowie’s production team for his penultimate music video, ‘Blackstar’.
The film was painstakingly edited by hand, using optical effects to create an authentic, vintage style.

Director Statement:
“I was so lucky that production of this film coincided with David Bowie’s ‘Blackstar’. When his team contacted us about hiring the spacesuit we had reserved for the production, we were happy to help him out. In return, he funded our little film. I was delighted. Of course, at the time we didn’t know it would be his final project before he died. So it’s bittersweet, in a way. But I’m happy to be connected with that amazing legacy.”
