Director’s Statement: I’ve been meditating and studying various forms of spiritual practice virtually all my adult life. During my journey, I’ve encountered numerous spiritual teachers in both what might be termed traditional and non-traditional settings. One of the non-traditional teachers I encountered was Rama – Dr. Frederick Lenz. In this video essay, I explore some aspects of Rama’s teachings that impacted me profoundly and that I believe might be applicable to other non-traditional ‘Rebel Buddhas’ that practitioners may have encountered. Dr. Lenz was both an American success story and a mysterious paradox whose iconoclastic methods had a positive impact on many people’s lives.
